Some intetesting info about the new “Hellboy” reboot.
It doesn’t matter if we never got a Hellboy III from Guillermo Del Toro, nor does it matter if the first two were never massive successes. It was still an impacting franchise with a cult following. So whatever director Neil Marshall hopes to accomplish with his upcoming 2019 reboot (Simply titled Hellboy), they’ll have to blow the lid off the roof of the expectations for it. Not only will it have a hard R-rating, but today we got interviews from lead star David Harbour (Who plays Hellboy) and co-star Ian McShane (Who plays his father figure/mentor Professor Broom) that demonstrates how both are working to give it there all. On Harbour’s end, he quoted the intensity of the very physical character:

It will be interesting to see how this one is going to turn out. I really liked the original Hellboy films, and reboots are really kind of tricky 😅😅

I’m still not sure how I feel about the reboot. I don’t necessarily think it’ll be a disaster, but del Toro obviously had more of his Hellboy story to tell and I wish he’d gotten the opportunity to make a third instalment.

I feel the same way too, J. But that won’t prevent me from watching. In our time it is so rare to have a superhero movie that is not from Marvel/DC…

As much as I would still like to see a Del Toro and Perlman Hellboy sequel, I’ll still see this one. I like the characters (I also like McShane and Harbour), but I know there’s some naysaying going on…

I guess mostly because of the director and the fact that “independent” blockbusters like that recently often fail.

I reckon it could do well. Especially cause comic book / graphic novel adaptations are now the norm for film and TV. And although not del Toro, I think Hellboy’s in good hands with Marshall.
