Today is National Science Fiction Day! Yahoo.
And you know why it is celebrated on 2nd January? Because it is the birthdate of Isaac Asimov, the man who created ”3 Laws of Robotics” and wrote about 500 books and short stories. Isaac Asimov was born as Isaak Ozimov on January 2, 1920, Petrovichi, Smolensk Oblast, Russia:
Here are three laws of robotics:
- A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
- A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
- A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws.
Later Asimov introduced the zeroth law:
- A robot may not harm humanity, or, by inaction, allow humanity to come to harm.

Sophia The Robot, a social humanoid robot developed by Hanson Robotics.
Speaking of robots, here’s a very funny The Tonight Show episode with Sophia The Robot.
Shamefully I have never read anything by Isaac Asimov🙈🙈 Yes I know how bad that is 😂

I invite you to read this one:

It’s about 15-20 minutes of reading and I think it is one of the best stories of Asimov. Premise – I like Asimov, he had many great ideas, but I don’t think that he as a writer can compare to the great non-sci-fi writers (well, the same can be said about many other sci-fi writers).
But this particular story is brilliant. In fact, it made me think of something I’ve never thought before, and it dazzles to ask a fundamental question about our Universe.

Looking forward to your thoughts on it! In fact, I was thinking of adding some other Asimov’s short stories today but I decided to skip them as they cannot compare to The Last Q, in my mind.

Once, every two weeks, I have the afternoon off on thursday 😊 It’s just part of my regular workpatern. Which is great especially since I always have way too little time on my hands lol 😂😂
